Why we do this ?
When people hear "modularity," most think of modular buildings. But we see much more in it.
Modularity is a principle we encounter everywhere around us — in nature, the human body, technology, education, architecture, business, and in how cities and society function. Individual parts can work on their own, but connecting them creates a new whole. They can change, rearrange, be added to, and respond to new needs.
We believe the most interesting ideas often emerge when people, fields, and perspectives that seem unrelated at first glance come together. That's why we bring experts, visionaries, innovators, and practitioners to one place, and look for new connections between their experiences.
Our goal isn't to prove that everything in the world is modular. We want to create a space where we can step outside our own field, look at familiar problems through different eyes, and find inspiration in how someone completely different thinks about them.
What is "modularitology"? !
Our name for exploring and studying the principles of modularity across the world around us.
It's not an academic discipline. And you won't find it in any university textbook yet.
It's a way of looking at things.
We're interested in what parts the systems around us are made of, how those parts communicate with each other, what happens when we rearrange, swap, or connect them differently — and whether principles that work in one field can be applied somewhere completely different.
Every field offers one perspective. Modularitology looks for what connects them.

We don't want to create another industry bubble. We want to open it up instead. We make room for different experiences, questions, and perspectives, and look for the moments when individual ideas start to connect.

The Modularity in Our Life conference is organized by KOMA MODULAR.
We've been living and breathing modularity for more than 30 years. Over that time, we've learned that its greatest strength doesn't lie only in the modules themselves, but above all in the principle behind them — assembling, connecting, changing, and seeking new possibilities.
Through this conference, we want to take that view further.
Not to convince everyone to start building modularly.
But to explore together just how far modular thinking can take us.
